WORKING from home is not all it's cracked up to be, new research shows.

Although 89 per cent of those who answered a survey by Skillfair said they were happy with their working environment, more than half complained of long working hours.

In addition, 32 per cent said distractions in the home had a detrimental effect on their working day.

Mother-of-three Sarah Francome, 41, is a project coordinator with Swindon Council and works mainly from home.

And she agrees that the hours can sometimes leave her tired.

"The phone never stops ringing," said Mrs Francome.

"I tell myself that I'm going to let the call go on to answer phone but I never do in case it's really important.

"It is hard to balance life and work, because you don't leave the office at 5pm every day."
