STONEHENGE School headteacher Andy Packer spoke last week of his pride in his pupils - both those who had achieved academic success and those who struggled on from day to day.
Speaking at the Amesbury school's annual certificate evening, Mr Parker told of his joy when he first heard this year's exam results and the news that more than 57 per cent of Stonehenge's Year 11 pupils had gained "gold standard" of five or more GCSE's at A*-C level.
"These results indicated an extraordinary achievement by our Year 11's and I felt both massive elation and doubt, a feeling probably rather akin to a lottery winner who thinks - can this really be true?" he said.
He added: "That now seems a long time ago but what that formidable achievement for the students, the school and the community means is that this will be having an impact on hundreds of lives today, tomorrow and for a considerable time into the future.
"We are proud of our students, as you are rightly proud of your children," he told parents in the audience.
"But our pride is not limited to those who do well in academic terms.
"Much of our pride is reserved for those who struggle on day on day, to gain as much as possible from their schooling."
Mr Packer said he included in that number the young people who had participated in the Team Enterprise scheme - winning the south-west region award for the best business enterprise.
"As a school that is proud to be comprehensive, we are about success for all," he said.
Mr Packer went on to praise his staff.
"It is only right on an occasion of celebration like this to thank all of the staff at the school for supporting our students," he said.
"Regardless of position or status, each and every one of the staff should share in our success. - the excellence of our results and the positive impact we are having is the result of team work."
