CHIPPENHAM Town's players have been left wondering what has hit them this week as new manager Steve White has been putting them through their paces.
Since his arrival White has held four gruelling training sessions in a bid to get his squad fighting fit.
On the eve of tomorrow's Dr Martens Premier League encounter at home to Welling, White admits that his first job is to improve his side's fitness.
He said: "My priority has been to get the boys training again. I think they have had a bit of a comfort period with Tommy Saunders in the past.
"I don't know exactly what work they had done with regards fitness but there is no doubt they are lacking in that area.
"Having said that, I would say we have got some great athletes and they have shown me they want to work hard.
"I don't know what went on in the past, I really don't, but some of the players have told me they had not done any fitness training.
"I am not knocking any previous regimes but three days a week we have got to get hard work out of them."
Tomorrow will be White's first league game as a manager and he knows that with his side at the bottom of the league it is important to start picking up some points.
He said: "A few wins would be very nice. But I think we have begun to improve the situation.
"We have suffered from a lack of goals and the boys need to alter that while we need to make sure few goals are let in at the other end.
"Defensively we have done very well indeed, but we have to start looking to get play forward quicker and make ourselves more dangerous going forward."
New signing Sam Allison will come straight into the squad for tomorrow's match, as White again has to cope with an injury nightmare.
Danny Bailey, who limped off in Saturday's match has been ruled out with a knee injury, and will join Colin Towler, Mark Badman, Steve Brown, Simon Charity and Pat Mountain on the sidelines.
Better news for the Bluebirds is that striker Martin Paul is expected to have recovered from a calf injury and Mings is also available.
Earlier in the season Chippenham won 3-1 at Welling with a brace from Paul and a goal from Mings and White would love a repeat of that performance.
Meanwhile Chippenham chairman Malcolm Lyus has hinted that the club are looking into starting up a reserve side.
He said: "I think the club would like to have a reserve team but obviously it depends on whether Steve White is up for it.
"I would like to think it would come sooner than later but we need to make sure it is done in the right way."
