TEENAGERS from Bradford on Avon are helping out single mums tonight by organising a Christmas party for them and their children in the town youth centre.
Members of the Youth Council came up with the idea for the party and sent out invites to young and single mums in the area so they could bring their children along to meet Father Christmas, play some party games and generally enjoy some festive cheer.
Joy Skurczynski, youth council facilitator, said: "The whole thing started when the Youth Council said they wanted to put on some sort of event for the young mums to give them a bit of a break.
"They are all so keen and it is great to see them really wanting to work for the community.
"It is nice to present a good image of teenagers who sometimes do not get a very good press."
The Bradford on Avon Lions Club Christmas Float will make its first visit of the year at the party and the club has donated funds to the Youth Council to help it get the event off the ground.
