Tom Jonik broke the deadlock with a simple touchdown after a driving run from skipper Tom Davidson.
The visitors from Bristol could not muster any clean attacks and a well-worked front peel from a line-out saw Geraint Deadman carry the ball down the touchline, before releasing Davidson who crashed over for a second try.
Early in the second half, the host's nerves were settled when Jonik again scored from short distance.
The match ended with tempers flared as nearly all 30 players were involved in a fracas following another dubious tackle from the visitors.
