RORY FALLON'S winning goal against Oxford United may have earned him the adulation of the Town faithful but he is not expecting his derby friendly heroics to cut any ice with his manager.

The 20-year-old's 'reward' for his strike at the Kassam Stadium on Friday is likely to be a place on the bench against Plymouth at the County Ground on Saturday.

You won't find him complaining though, however desperate he is to open his 'proper' account for the club.

It is a month since Fallon signed on the dotted line from Barnsley and he has played just 29 minutes of football, coming off the bench in the matches against Oldham Athletic, Queens Park Rangers and Hartlepool United respectively.

However, he has no regrets about making the switch from Oakwell and insists he must earn the right to be handed a start.

He never asked to, nor expected to instantly break up the Sam Parkin-Tommy Mooney partnership which has yielded 19 goals so far this season.

Fallon said: "Footballers should earn their place in a side, and I'm not afraid of hard work.

"I don't want anything handed to me on a plate. I want to work for it.

"If the manager feels I'm worthy of an opportunity, then it's up to me to then take that chance.

"All I can do is continue to give my all in training and stay focused.

"As for life with Swindon overall, I'm really happy that I made the decision to come here.

"I've settled in well and the lads have been great with me. My girlfriend and I are just trying to get the house situation sorted out at the moment and once that's done I can focus completely on the football."

Fallon and his colleagues were due to report back for training this afternoon after a rare weekend off, due to Town's early exit from the FA Cup.

Town's reserves face rivals Oxford United tonight in the Pontin's Holidays Combination at the home of Oxford City (7pm).
