SCROOGE is alive and well and living in Trowbridge. In my search for the charity Christmas card shop (bottom of Castle Street) which, not surprisingly, was empty when I called, I wondered why none of our wealthy property agents had not, apparently, offered the cause a more suitable premises.
For example, there are at least four empty properties in The Shires alone with no sign of new occupants.
As I recall there was a similar problem last year and it would be interesting to know how much, or how little, the good causes made this year.
