CORSHAM'S second string gave a good account of themselves before slipping to a narrow 8-5 defeat at their neighbours' Allington Field ground.
The home side had Alan Jones sin-binned, with Sid Hayden also being shown the yellow card for the visitors, both for violent conduct.
The first Chippenham score came with a backs move involving Steve Hard, Dave Burrows and Andy Cornell, who enabled Andy Tombs to score.
With 15 minutes to go Corsham attacked the defence and after a series of good passes, they scored in the corner through full-back Liam Healy to bring the score level.
Chippenham responded well and, again using the wind, counter-attacked.
With five minutes to go, captain Ian Bannister picked up the loose ball in his own half, chipped the waiting defence and tackled the Corsham defender who conceded a penalty.
That was converted by Gordon Hardie to make the score 8-5 and Chippenham held on.
Tetbury endured a frustrating afternoon against visitors St Brendan's Old Boys, but still ran out 17-5 winners in Gloucestershire Three South.
They created chances, but the final scoring pass went astray time and again.
Hooker Jonathon Grayling powered over the line from close range and tries followed from Piers Dixon and Brian Goldstone, with Pete Roberts superbly converting to take Tetbury into a 17-0 lead after half an hour.
St Brendan's pulled one back before the break, but could make no further inroads.
LEAGUE leaders Cricklade were handed the points from their Dorset & Wilts Two North clash against Supermarine 2nd when the South Marston side were unable to raise a side.
