Swindon Primary Schools, missing five regular team players, were beaten 3-1 at Plymouth in their second Cotswold League fixture.
Plymouth took the lead in the second minute with a freak own goal.
Spear's close range effort at goal was blocked by Wilkinson, but the two defenders backing him up failed to clear the ball, and it ended up in an unguarded net.
This early setback did not deter Swindon, and Parsons soon tested Trower in the Plymouth goal.
Swindon controlled the midfield with an outstanding performance by Thompson. However, Plymouth's defence held firm.
Plymouth doubled their lead in the 22nd minute. Wilkinson threw the ball out to Redford, but he was robbed by Jenkins. His shot was well saved by Wilkinson, but the full-back followed up his initial shot with another fine effort from the edge of the penalty area.
Another excellent save by Wilkinson kept the visitors in the game.
If the first half had been good, the second half proved to be even better.
Swindon pressed continually, looking to reduce the deficit. Bray on the right was involved in a titanic battle with Plymouth's left back, while Munton and Finnegan worked tirelessly to hold Swindon's defence together.
After 15 minutes the visitors pulled a goal back, again with an own goal.
Clifford whipped in a delightful corner from the right which looked as if it would go straight in until a Plymouth player, trying to head the ball over the bar, only succeeded in finding the roof of the net.
Plymouth now had to work hard to contain the Swindon's midfield in which Thompson was outstanding.
Parsons weaved and wriggled his way through the defence but found his way blocked by Trower.
Hawkins' drive through a crowded penalty area was straight at Tucker in goal, but gradually Plymouth's superior work rate began to tell.
With less than five minutes remaining Plymouth secured their first Cotswold League win when Spear won a corner on the right from which he headed a deserved third goal.
While Plymouth proved to be the better team on the day, Swindon undoubtedly had the game's outstanding player in midfield dynamo Thompson, who played brilliantly throughout.
