Highworth Town bid to shake off a patchy run of form when they travel to Carterton in the Hellenic Premier Division this evening.
Three points from a possible 12 has prevented John Fisher's side from closing the gap on the top sides in the section.
"It's the same situation as last year," said Fisher.
"We are dropping points against sides in the bottom half and we can't afford to do that.
"We should have got 10 points from our last four and we've ended up with three, which is not good enough."
Fisher will be without Mark Belcher for at least two months after the midfielder sustained minor cruciate ligament damage.
Nick McRae is also sidelined after breaking a foot in the 1-1 draw with Hook Norton on Saturday.
Paul Donnelly and Neil Dix are suspended, so there will be starts for Andy Wollen, Dave Webb, Tony Joyce and Matt Debal, who has re-signed from Hungerford.
Shrivenham travel to Chipping Norton in the second round of the Challenge Cup.
Mark Peters, Michael Silvanus, Nathan Holt and Tom Jones are all unavailable, but Doug Imrie returns from injury, and Andy Rainer also comes into the squad.
Cirencester are eyeing an upset in the Dr Martens Cup when they travel to Premier Division strugglers Bath City.
Manager Brian Hughes said: "I was speaking to the chairman (Steve Abbley) about the game and he said he's expecting to go to Bath and win.
"I agree, and it's got to be the first time in the club's history we can make that kind of statement."
New signing Shaun Wimble is set to make his debut, but Andy Minturn will be out until the New Year with cruciate ligament damage.
Meanwhile, Chippenham have signed Ian Herring on loan from Swindon until January 1.
The 19-year-old goes into the squad to face Newport in the Dr Martens Cup tomorrow.
