THE headteacher of a Swindon primary school has praised 17 members of his team who passed NVQ exams.
Hard work paid off for teaching assistants, catering staff and secretaries at Goddard Park Primary, who all received NVQ level 2 certificates.
They were all presented with certificates by Swindon mayor Derek Benfield at a ceremony in the council chamber.
The school teamed up with Swindon Council to allow staff to stay on at the end of the day for training.
Mike Welsh, headteacher, said: "To have 17 members of staff in one school get these awards is quite remarkable.
"I'm absolutely thrilled they all succeeded, and the children will benefit from having better trained staff.
"It's all part of the school's commitment to continuing professional development."
The following staff received the qualification in NVQ Level 2 teaching assistant qualifications: Hellen Churcher, Jackie Ettridge, Tracy Farwell, Mandy Flannigan, Carol Liddiard, Elaine Ockwell, Diane Robinson, Trudie Skerton, Sue Smith, Tina Underwood and Samm Robins-Drewitt.
Catering staff Karen Anderson, Denise Sell, Sue Greg and Jo Elliot were awarded certificates for hospitality.
Carole Davies and Emma Hunt received qualifications in administration.
