RELEGATION-haunted Chippenham Town boss Steve White has been boosted with the news that a number of his injured players are on the mend.
Mark Badman (hernia) was due to feature on the bench against Newport in the league cup last night while Martin Paul (knee) should be back in the squad for Saturday's trip to Havant and Waterlooville.
Club captain Colin Towler is back to 75 per cent fitness following a bad ankle injury suffered against Gloucester City while full-back Simon Charity is also improving.
Long-term absentee Steve Brown (broken leg) is eyeing a long-awaited return in the near future.
White, who has signed two new players in the past week, said he feels he has a strong squad on his hands once everyone is fully fit. "We are looking at players all the time but we have got a lot of good players in the squad when we get the four back that are injured," he said.
"We can be a very competitive team but one or two key areas may need strengthening. That's my job and I've brought in a couple of players already.
"If we have got to bring in one or two more bodies we will do so."
The two new faces are former England Under-18 international Sam Allison and versatile Swindon Town youngster Ian Herring.
Allison joined on a non-contract basis aftery having spent the season floating between Salisbury City and Paulton Rovers.
Herring has signed on a month's loan and was expected to make his debut against Newport last night.
