Vizard was on target along with Lee Bevis, who scored with a 40 yard shot as Sherston defeated All Cannings 2-0.

Winsley's 10 men battled bravely but were unable to prevent The Duke Corsham from winning 4-0. Chris Jones (2) Lee Fuller and Neil Shardlow were on target for last term's top flight winners.

Division One

CHIPPENHAM Police gave their hopes of avoiding relegation a huge boost with a surprise but well deserved win over Chippenham Sports and Social Club.

The Police, who due to work commitments have struggled to put out a full strength side since the season started, continued where they left off last weekend when despite having only 10 players and losing 5-1 against Wingfield they showed battling qualities that were again on show against the Sports as the Police picked up their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 success.

Gordon Hardie and Mark McIntyre scored the goals for the Police but their goalkeeper Martin Notman played a part in the win when he saved a Darren Whiston penalty.

Biddestone Social's 5-1 victory over The Horse and Groom saw them move three points clear of Maud Heath Sports who suffered their second loss on the trot with a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Trowbridge Harriers.

Matt Pratley headed Biddestone in front against the Horse and Groom and then made it 2-0 when he robbed the Horse goalkeeper to walk the ball into the net. James Tindell added number three before two more efforts from Pratley took his tally for the game to four. Paul Bendell's spectacular drive from 20 yards out was the Horse's consolation.

Having won eight out of eight games, Maud Heath were beginning to look like serious title contenders but defeats in their last two games has seen their season come off the tracks.

Alistair Stokes bagged both goals for Trowbridge Harriers as they gained revenge for their 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Sports earlier in the season.

The George Lacock hit Atworth United for six, with all their goals coming in a 15 minute period late in the second half and this was after Atworth were given a 2-0 advantage thanks to a double strike from Stuart Holland, the second a spectacular strike from 20 yards.

A Gary Smith own goal set The George on their way to recovery and when Tim Culling's shot took a wicked deflection off Alex Findlay to tie the scores United were on the back foot. Further goals from Culling, Richard Nash, Lee Carpenter and Dan Smith, who beat three players before unleashing a strike from 40 yards, made up The George's six. Wayne Heath crashed home a free kick from 25 yards as he hit Atworth's third in their 6-3 defeat.

Wingfield fell behind in the first 10 minutes against West End Wanderers, with Tony Kelly scoring for the home team. Wingfield replied soon after when a superb cross from Andy Edwards picked out Neil Wilcox who tapped in from six yards.

Wingfield's Guy Rowley beat two players and then rounded the Wanderers' goalkeeper to make it 2-1, and Wingfield added a third just before half-time through Lee Frisby, who beat the offside trap from just inside Wanderers' half to advance on to goal unchallenged and slot past a despairing keeper.

Neil Wilcox's inswinging corner flew straight into top corner to make it 4-1 and although Wanderers never gave up, they were unable to get back into the game and finally lost out 4-2 with Dave Jenkins scoring a late consolation.

Colerne's poor first half display against Semington Rovers saw them trail 2-0 at the interval to goals from James Eatough and Dan Phillips. Colerne got their act together in the second half but despite Jason Knight's first goal for the club they were unable to find another way through Rovers defence and ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 score line.

Division Two

NORTH Bradley slipped off the top spot after they suffered their first defeat of the season away at Sutton Benger who they had hammered 13-2 in the reverse fixture.

Benger triumphed 1-0 with Nick Slade scoring the first half winner.

Corsham Centre regained pole position after they beat Southwick Sports 5-0 to make it nine wins on the bounce. Craig Gingell (2), Scott Lye, Simon Grey and an effort from Jack Nicholas which was helped over the line by Southwick's Jamie Alford gave the Centre the perfect result before this Sunday's Knockout Cup clash with Premier Division outfit Hullavington.

North Star A continue to shine and along with Corsham Centre remain unbeaten after their 6-1 victory over Blue Circle Saints. Garrick Hopkins netted the cement boys' consolation while Tommy Ludford, Stuart Riley, Simon Gardiner and three from Dale Smith, which were his first goals for the Star, kept the Calne-based team on course for a top two finish.

Christian Malford's 4-2 win over Biddestone Arms moves them up into fifth place. Malford hit back twice to claim their win after Lee Scutter had put Biddestone ahead. His opener was cancelled out by Scott Evans before Dean Fry restored Biddestone's advantage early in the second half prior to Chris Pitman, Ian Ramsey and Evans (penalty) bagging Malford's other goals.

Steeple Ashton and Somerford FC were involved in a nine goal thriller which was won by Ashton 5-4.

Steve Coveney opened the scoring for Ashton with a left footed volley from distance which was cancelled out by Gavin Klukowski.

An unbelievable own goal from Somerford's Darren Clarke, who drilled an unstoppable strike past his own keeper from 18 yards, gifted the lead back to Ashton and further goals from Lee Hayward (2) and Nathan Holloway put Ashton 5-1 up before Somerford staged a great comeback with Klukowski, Richard Chandler and Steve Gore scoring to set up a tense finish which saw Ashton cling on to a 5-4 win. Somerford almost stole a point at the death when Klukowski's shot was blocked by Mark Townsend on the line.

Division Three

FOUR Seasons extended their unbeaten sequence to 11 games with a 5-2 win at home to Corsham Park Rangers.

Marcus Young (2), Jason Cole, Adam Smith and Ryan Nicholls scored for The Seasons, with Gordon Willshire and Pete Saint-Ruth on target for Rangers.

Hare and Hounds rested a number of players against Cooper-Avon as they prepared for this Sunday's Knockout Cup clash with holders All Cannings. Cooper-Avon's Andy Roberts crashed home a 30 yard free kick to put the tyremen in front but a Niall McLean hat-trick saw the hounds to their sixth win of the season.

Old Lane United fell to their fourth defeat on the trot when they lost 2-0 at home to Pig and Whistle United, who they beat 5-2 in early October. A 30 yard screamer from Richard Allen plus Jeff Hale's eighth goal of the campaign moved the Pig further away from the relegation trap door.

Division Four

WITH leaders Kings Arms inactive and second placed FC Bradford in Wilts Sunday Cup action, Virgin Mobile and Classic FC gained vital victories that saw them close the gap at the top.

Virgin's 4-1 victory over Fascia Graphics saw them move level with both the Kings Arms and Bradford. The three clubs have 20 points each but are separated by goal difference.

Classic FC remain close on the heels of the leaders. Their best ever season already sees them with 19 points after win number nine from 11 games. Dayle Townsend led the scoring with a hat-trick, Marcus Hussey added two and Paul Hussey and Pete Brock scored singles.

Pack Horse Rangers inflicted the Plough with their 11 straight defeat. Dan Jackson and Phil Clark shared six of Rangers' eight goals with three apiece while Simon Reid and Craig Dore netted the others. Kevin Nash scored the Plough's consolation.

Richard Hayter netted Rowde's consolation as they lost 5-1 away to North Star B who won with goals from James Yates (3) and Ashley Lawrence (2).

Wiltshire Sunday Cup.

DOG and Fox Ashley found themselves trailing 2-0 against the Prince of Wales but hit back with a double from Steve Roddy to tie the game at 2-2 and take the game into extra time where the Prince went on to win 5-3 with Roddy completing his hat trick.

Spencer Sports needed extra-time before putting out Autocolor FC 3-1. Ralph Plummer's 80th minute penalty tied the scores for the Sports and Tom Evans and another Plummer strike secured the Sports win with minutes to go.

Bradford News are in the final 16 and have yet to kick a ball in the competition.

After receiving a walkover in the previous round the Newsmen were against gifted their game with The Dolphin, when the Mid-Wiltshire League side were unable to fulfill the fixture.
