RELATIVES preparing for their first Christmas since losing a loved one are being given a chance to remember them.
Hillier Funeral Service has put up Christmas trees at its office in Victoria Road, Old Town, and at the Chapel of Rest, in Broadway, Swindon.
Bereaved friends or relatives can write a message on a gold star, which will then be attached to the trees.
There are already hundreds of stars hanging from their branches.
They were put on the tree at a dedication service on December 1 and will stay up until Christmas Eve.
Judith Hill, the assistant bereavement care co-ordinator at Hillier, said: "Christ- mas is one of the most difficult times for bereaved people and we want to offer a way for them to include their loved ones.
"Rather than pushing away the memories of that person it is helpful to acknowledge them.
"Putting a little message on a Christmas tree is one way to do this."
