A PLASTICS company is working with young persons' charity, Amber, to help provide employment opportunities.

Deceuninck is a global group with one of its largest bases in Calne, which produces plastic for windows, doors and external constructions.

Deceuninck was approached by Amber through its ongoing involvement with the local business community and the Calne Chamber of Commerce.

Deceuninck agreed to give Amber the opportunity to produce and supply sample boxes for a range of its products.

The sample box is a key tool in promoting and selling the firm's products. It displays cross sections of items, showing the internal engineering involved and the quality of the material used.

Based in Trowbridge, the Amber charity helps unemployed young people, many of whom are homeless or have lost their way, to get back on track in a residential setting away from peer pressure.

Amber offers these youngsters guidance and support, life skills and a route to fulfilling employment through an activity-orientated programme that motivates, builds self-confidence and self esteem.

"The project with Deceuninck has offered many young people at Amber a tremendous opportunity to learn how to set up their own business," said human resources officer Clair Beaty-Pownall.
