Victims of crime should not suffer in silence during the Christmas period, according to Victim Support Wiltshire.

The charity helps people cope with the aftermath of crime and is urging people affected to get in touch.

Deputy area manager Mary Platten said: "Unfortunately criminals can take advantage of the Christmas period, especially if people leave their homes to visit family.

"We are urging people to call the Victim Supportline, even if they haven't reported the crime to the police. They should not suffer in silence."

Over the Christmas period the Wiltshire branch will be open on Christmas Eve, December 29, December 30 and December 31, from 9am to 2pm and from 9am to 4pm on January 2.
