KELVIN Highmore believes he has landed a real bargain in former Corsham Town defender Graham Ford.
Ford played the last 25 minutes on Saturday after replacing Glenn Armstrong and once he regains full match fitness the Calne Town boss says he will be a key man.
Highmore says Ford's best position is central defence, but the versatile player can also fill in at full back or in a holding midfield spot. He was a regular with Corsham last year, but has been without a club since the summer.
Ford will be well known to Corsham fans after winning the manager's, supporters' and players' player of the year awards in 2002 after helping the club to a top 10 league finish.
He originally asked whether he could train with Calne to regain fitness, but is now set to play a major role for the rest of the season.
Highmore said: "He has not been playing anywhere this season, but he was one of Corsham's best players last year.
"Graham was easy to sign up because he was not registered anywhere.
"He is lacking a bit of match fitness, but he is a great acquisition to our squad. He approached us asking to come training and we took it from there."
