l June 1998 School is put in "serious weaknesses" by HM Inspectors.
l November 1998 Nythe is spared the axe, due in part to the campaign by the Nythe Action Group (NAG). Plans finalised to close Oakfield and Gilberts Hill schools.
l March 2001 NAG re-forms to prevent another closure bid.
l April 2001 Headteacher Jan Chapple takes early retirement on health grounds.
June 2001 A further inspection keeps the school in "serious weaknesses" and stresses there is a lot of work still to be done.
March 2002 Debbie Kalynka is appointed new headteacher.
June 2002 An inspection acknowledges progress but states it is still too early to make any definite judgements.
June 2003 Inspectors are impressed with the progress made and take the school out of special measures.
December 2003 Nythe Primary School is ranked as the sixth best in Swindon in the league tables.
