BREAST cancer patient Liz Bishop found the perfect way to say thanks to the hospital which helped save her life.

She presented a £1,500 cheque to the Royal United Hospital's Forever Friends Appeal following a series of sponsored headshaves at The Tavern pub in Melksham.

Mrs Bishop, her son Christopher, brother-in-law Barry Cleverley and barman Simon Clarke all went under the clippers at the fundraiser.

"I was so grateful for the treatment and care I received from staff at the RUH and I wanted to find a way to give something back," said Mrs Bishop.

"I never thought we would raise so much money in one night."

Tavern manager John Stewart was delighted.

He said: "It was great so many people were being so generous. We're tremendously proud of everyone who took part."
