PLAYING up the slope and into the wind, a workmanlike performance saw CATS control Saturday's Dorset and Wilts Division One game, only worrying the coaches with their indifferent line-out play.

Although enjoying good ball and all the territory, CATS could not find a way over the North Dorset line and settled for three well taken penalties from winger Danny Wells.

With a comfortable nine point lead and half-time minutes away, concentration levels dropped which allowed North Dorset to score a converted try with their only attack of the half.

Further disappointment followed when lock forward William Paviour was sent to the sin-bin on the stroke of half-time with the score at 9-7.

North Dorset were in more determined mood after the break and put CATS under pressure. A penalty saw them take a 10-9 lead.

CATS responded with good work from forwards and backs to unleash full back Paul Simmons who weaved his way to the try line from 30 yards out to restore their lead at 14-10.

It was at this point that CATS started to self-destruct with Paviour, just back on the field, promptly dismissed for his second yellow card of the game.

Playing again with 14 men and frequent bouts of poor discipline, CATS spent the rest of the game defending their lead, but in the closing minutes North Dorset crossed the line for an unconverted try and quickly followed this with a penalty to win the game 18-14.

CATS seconds also travelled to North Dorset, which again saw them play the whole game with 14 men due to an injury to Richard Porter during the warm-up.

Playing with the elements in the first half CATS built up a 10-point lead through unconverted tries from Stuart Moore and David Dyke.

But North Dorset made more of the elements in the second half and with their one-man advantage, run out comfortable winners 32-10.
