TROWBRIDGE Town boss Neil Kirkpatrick is determined his young side will keep their feet on the ground ahead of tomorrow's game at home to Marlborough.
Saturday's match at Shrewton saw Trowbridge's second 8-0 win of the season after having earlier thrashed Malmesbury by the same score.
But Kirkpatrick says there is plenty more work to be done if his team are to hold on to top spot in the Wiltshire League Premier Division.
The win at Shrewton saw three players chalk up milestones as Trowbridge ran riot in the second half, but Kirkpatrick was just as pleased his side achieved another clean sheet.
Adam Nunn scored his first senior hat-trick with his second successful penalty of the match and substitute Guy Rowley's second-half brace were his first goals for the club.
Kirkpatrick had been Trowbridge Town's record goal scorer since the club reformed in 1999 with 40 goals, but forward Dave Percival struck just before the break to net his 41st goal in Trowbridge colours and leap above his manager in the charts.
Ricky Trott headed Trowbridge's opener before Nunn hit the first of his three. After Percival made it 3-0 Nunn struck twice from the spot as Shrewton collapsed. Waleed Bakali added a sixth before Rowley's double rounded off the rout.
Kirkpatrick said Saturday's performance had not necessarily been his team's best of the season, but was nonetheless delighted with the display.
He said: "The first 25 minutes were exceptional. They had only conceded 10 goals all season beforehand so I was expecting a lot harder game to be honest.
"We were three up at half-time and looked like scoring every time we attacked, but at the end of the day it's only three points.
"I was particularly pleased by the clean sheet. I don't like conceding goals. We've got the best defensive record in the league and I want to keep it that way.
"It was nice to see the goals spread out. Adam Nunn has been brilliant all season and deserved his hat-trick.
"Guy Rowley has come very close to scoring before so it was great for him to get two. Dave Percival beat my record, but I'm pleased for him.
"We've now got to keep the lads' feet on the ground. They are a young side and we'll be expecting the same performance on Saturday."
Two strikes, one in each half from Simon Pugh, gave Purton Reserves a 2-1 win over Wroughton.
Bottom club Pewsey Vale Reserves gained a surprise 2-1 win at Westbury United Reserves George Flippance the hero with two second-half goals after the home side had taken the lead.
Goals from Sean Moffatt, Nick Loren and Ian Davies gave Devizes Town Reserves a 3-2 win over Melksham Town Reserves, John Freegard and Tom Robinson scoring for the home side.
Wootton Bassett United took the honours in Junior Division One, beating third-in-the-table Calne Town Reserves 1-0 on their own ground. Bassett were without a keeper until Friday when Paul Warren was persuaded to switch from rugby to soccer, and the stand-in keeper kept a clean sheet with an important save five minutes from time. Earlier Bassett had taken a deserved lead through stalwart Derek Labatt.
Bromham remain unbeaten since the end of August after defeating Biddestone Reserves 5-0, Danny Powell (2), Lee Davies, Darren Brown and an own goal doing the damage.
Division Two leaders New College came to grief at Minety, losing 4-1.
Willie Wood and Graham Read scored a brace each for the home side but the game was marred by an injury to the College keeper who was taken to hospital, but was later released with a badly-bruised leg.
