PRINCESS Diana memorial awards have been dished-out to young people in west and north Wiltshire.
Trowbridge A-level student Katherine Wheeler, 17, was one of six recipients of the prestigious award, recognising outstanding achievements in young people aged between 12 and 18 years.
Katherine, a pupil at John of Gaunt School, was rewarded for her voluntary work with Trowbridge Area Beavers and Cub Scouts.
Speaking of her delight she said: "I started helping out when my brother Matthew was involved about three years ago.
"I was a bit surprised when I heard I had won the award.
"My mum was quite happy that I have got something which recognises all the work I put in."
Three pupils from St Augustine's School were among other award winners, with headteacher Brendan Wall set to visit Downing Street next week to collect them.
Hardenhuish pupil Olivia Carter, 15, and another pupil from Sheldon School made up the six winners.
The memorial awards were set-up in 1997, following the princess's death in a car crash in Paris.
