DAVE Kilmurray was the star of the show as Corsham Town made it six wins on the bounce with a 3-0 home triumph over Willand Rovers on Saturday.

Before the game much had been made of the visitors' strike duo of Steve Ebdy and former non-league footballer of the year Phil Everitt, but it was the Corsham forward who finished with the plaudits as Colin Bush's side rose to fifth in the table.

Kilmurray scored Corsham's first just after the half hour mark and was a constant threat throughout this Screwfix First Division encounter.

The striker's form combined with a tactical switch, which saw Nigel Curtis drop back to centre-half, ensured Willand went away empty handed.

Corsham travel to Street tomorrow hoping to extend their run to a magnificent seven and manager Bush is cautiously optimistic about the prospect. Jack Cullis and Russell Hodges are injury doubts, but otherwise Bush has a full squad to choose from.

He said: "I know it's a clich but we take every game as it comes. Street are two places below us in the league and have had a reasonable start.

"I think they will be very difficult to beat down there. But if we are going to try to catch the group above us then this is the sort of game we have to win.

"We don't want to put pressure on ourselves. We have to treat each win as if it is our first."

Corsham dominated Saturday's match from the outset and could well have taken the lead before Kilmurray struck on 31 minutes. Midfielder Alan Griffin picked out Kilmurray with a precise cross on 19 minutes, but the forward's header came back off the bar.

Griffin himself had a header well saved by Brian Cann in the Willand goal before Kilmurray worked an opening. His cross-shot found the far corner of the net to give Corsham a deserved lead.

The home side added a second in first half injury time when Griffin got on the end of Frankie Coleman's cross for his third in two games. Ebdy squandered Willand's best chance when he fired over, but the Devon side did improve in the second half.

Although pegged back at times Corsham continued to test Cann who denied Coleman after he was set up by Kilmurray. Griffin put John Woods through, but his side-footed shot could only skim a post.

Seven minutes from time Corsham rounded off their third consecutive 3-0 win when Coleman's shot was deflected over Cann in the Willard goal.

A delighted Bush said: "The first half was superb. The week before I felt they were a little bit slow out of the blocks.

"But we got about them early doors and we were unlucky not to be a couple up in the first 10 minutes."
