Well done to Coun Mike Bawden for persuading the powers that be at the Civic Offices to break with protocol and fly the England flag to honour our rugby team
The team did us proud, and it's great to show our appreciation for their efforts in this way.
But can anyone please explain to me why our civic leaders consider it against protocol to fly our own flag in our own country?
When I visit other towns and cities I notice civic buildings flying the English, Welsh or Scottish flag, as appropriate, with pride. There are three flag poles at the Civic Offices and we usually see the European flag and the Union flag flown there, but our own country's flag only flies on St George's Day.
It is said the flag will fly on the roof of the Civic Offices until England next lose a match but why can't it stay there?
