I was most interested to read the views of councillor Terry Chivers in 'A363 Junction 'Lethal'' (Wiltshire Times, December 5).

Although I am sure Cllr Chivers has the public's best interests at heart, I believe he has missed a fundamental point.

In my view there is no such thing as a lethal road, only lethal road users.

The solution to accident prevention is for road users to adhere to the law, take heed of warning signs and adapt their driving to the road conditions.

I think the police and county council are correct in their refusal to back this campaign and feel the councillor's efforts would be better served trying to make road users safer rather than the road itself.
