TWO second half goals were enough to give AFC Totton the points in this evenly contested game.

The first half proved an end-to-end affair with Bemerton shading it on chances, but the visitors were always a threat on the break, showing better passing technique.

Stuart Findlay and Neil Cole both went close near to half time with AFC 'keeper Mark Watson making two important saves.

Early in the second period, Andy Chainey should have scored for the 'Quins but he blasted well over from close range. Then Keith Richardson wasted another good opportunity when he shot straight at the 'keeper.

Findlay was tackled when about to finish after beating a defender, and the 'Quins knew they would have to defend well to get a point.

However, on 70 minutes Chris Marwood ran into space and, unchallenged, beat Scott Kemmis low to his left from 20 yards.

Matty Smith and Paul Palmer were sent on in place of Nash and Richard-son to add more pace and Heath responded well, but Findlay was again denied by the 'keeper.

As Bemerton threw everything at the visitors in a bid to earn a point, they left gaps behind and substitute Michael White lobbed Totton's second in the 89th minute with another 25-yarder as Heath only half cleared.

Bemerton beat Thatch-am Town 2-1 at Western Way in the league on Tuesday. Goals from Cole and Findlay did the trick.

On Saturday they entertain Hamble ASSC before their Wessex League Cup tie at Downton on Tuesday, December 16 (7.45pm).

Heath's reserves continued their recent good run with a superb 2-0 victory at Weymouth.

New manager Jeff Softley said he was delighted with his side's performance. Danny Aplin and Paul Copping scored the all-important goals.

They host AFC Totton Reserves in the Combin-ation Cup tonight, 7.45pm.
