Soggy conditions played havoc with the Wiltshire League programme with more than half of the scheduled fixtures postponed.

One Premier Division game that did go ahead was at Cricklade where the home side were held to a 2-2 draw by visitors Aldbourne.

After three weeks without a league game, Cricklade started well and it was no surprise when Ian Ross put them ahead.

With a blustery wind behind them the home side had several chances to increase their lead before a dangerous looking free-kick by Darren Woodfield across the face of the Cricklade goal was converted by James Cornfield to level 10 minutes before the break.

Once again, the home side started well in the second half and striker Ross was again on hand to regain the lead for his side.

However, midway through the half the sides were level again when Aldbourne were awarded a penalty and Daniel Morton converted.

In the closing stages, the home side had a goal ruled out for offside and missed a couple of good chances as they pushed forward looking for the winner.

But Aldbourne boss Pete Orsi was pleased with the point and said: "I thought it was a fair result in wet and windy conditions and I'm quite happy to have come away with a point."

Cricklade manager Graham Jackson thought his side looked a bit rusty at times and said: "You have got to take your chances in this game. After we had gone one up I thought we let them back into the game."

Purton Reserves beat bottom club Malmesbury Vics 5-0 but made heavy weather of it in the first 45 minutes, going in just one goal up courtesy of Simon Pugh.

Some half-time readjustments by manager Ian Restell seemed to do the trick, with Pugh adding a second on 70 minutes and Alan Webb, Mark McMeeking and Toby Clarke all scoring in the last 10 minutes.

There was an upset at Devizes where the home side defeated second-in-the-table Biddestone 5-1.

With the elements in their favour, Devizes took a three-goal lead at the break, Andy Stone on target with all three goals.

After the break the home side, bolstered by a few of the senior side players, continued with David Lloyd adding two further goals before Graham Gager headed past his own keeper to give Biddestone a consolation.

There was no festive spirit on offer for Pewsey Vale, who were beaten 10-0 in a one-sided affair at Bradford.

On target for Bradford were Adam Smith, who scored five, Steve Wickens grabbing a brace and Tom Pang, Peter Martin and Mark Robinson scored a goal apiece.

Warminster Town, at home to Shrewton United Reserves, found themselves a goal down early in the game but Stuart Beggs equalised to send the sides in level at the break.

The home side scored the winner midway through the second half, when a free-kick by Tom Baxter appeared to have been saved by the keeper but the linesman awarded a goal.

In Junior Division One, Wanborough United beat Cricklade Town Reserves 5-1, despite playing most of the game with 10 men.

The home side were dealt a blow after just 20 minutes when Kevin Brown was sent off, but still managed to go in at the break a goal to the good courtesy of John Anglis.

After the interval, man-of-the-match 18-year-old Kevin Smith scored twice and had a hand in the other two scored by Steve Shaw and Danny Hawkins.

Westside returned to form, beating visitors Sherston 4-1, Ian Pickering, Chris McConnell and John Webb netting first half goals and Webb scoring a fourth in the last five minutes.

In Junior Divison Two, just two games defied the elements, with Green Baize turning in one of their best performances of the season to beat Blyskawica 2-1.

Dan Baikey gave Baize an early lead with a a neat glancing header following a good three-man move.

Neil Lee then lobbed the visitors' keeper on 25 minutes to secure a two-goal lead at the break.

The visitors pulled a goal back in the second half, missed a penalty, and had the home defence at full stretch in a hectic last few minutes of the game.

QT Swindon gained a 3-2 success over Westside Reserves, Brown (2) and Adam scoring for QT and Miller and Henry replying for the visitors.

Wroughton Reserves progressed to the second round of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup following their 5-2 victory over Pinehurst OB.

Tom Dingle weighed in with a hat-trick and Luke Curtis added two more.

Shane Davies and Liam Preedy replied for Pinehurst, who did themselves no favours when they had Shane Brennan sent off in the second half.
