SHRIVENHAM celebrated securing a new sponsorship deal by grinding out a late 1-0 win at home to Harrow Hill.

Alan Dyton's Hellenic League side christened their new first-team strip purchased by local company the Gulsham Brasserie with a victory thanks to Nathan Holt's stoppage-time strike.

The hosts had weathered a first-half storm with goalkeeper Chris Webb coming to their rescue on more than one occasion.

But Shrivenham turned the tide after the interval and a succession of chances went begging before Holt rounded off a fine team move with the last kick of the game.

A delighted Dyton said: "It was a tight game and I'm very happy to have got the win.

"Harrow Hill are a very hard working side, the wet conditions were a real leveller and a draw might have been a fair result.

"Our goalkeeper had to make three or four good saves in the first half, but we dominated the second half.

"We were camped in their area but couldn't score until Nathan popped up right at the end."

The win moved Shrivenham up to fourth in Division One West, seven points behind leaders Purton but with two games in hand.

Purton had the weekend off but their position at the top was helped as their main rivals Ross Town dropped points in a 2-2 home draw with mid-table Kidlington.

The derby between Malmesbury Victoria and Cirencester United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

While Cirencester United might be struggling in Division One, they are flying high in the misconduct standings.

Ivor Probert's men are second in the list of offenders behind Kidlington after collecting six red cards this season.

Shrivenham are the best behaved local side with just 12 bookings and no dismissals this term.
