THE Highways Agency's latest weapon against ice on the M4 is a dome full of salt.
A 13-metre high wooden structure, which opens today at the junction 18 near Bath, is capable of holding up to 2,000 tonnes of road salt, keeping it dry and reducing loss through damp and rain.
It will be used to de-ice the M4, M32, A36 and A46.
