I AM pleased to seethe support for Inna Haville's campaign in the paper, and hope that the Home Office decides that she can stay after all.

However, whether or not she is allowed to stay, I hope that we will all learn from this.

It seems that we are all happy to rally behind the cry of "too many immigrants" while they remain faceless numbers, but as soon as we can put a face and a story to each case, we feel very differently.

I fear that in refusing her permission to stay, the Home Office may be responding to fears expressed about immigration, and that as a result we are all therefore partly responsible for this decision.

Maybe in the future, we should all stop and think that each number represents a person with a story before we next cry "too many immigrants."
