WHERE on earth did this latest Winners nonsense come from (EA Dec 11). I must admit I thought this matter had been dealt with years ago.
Winners have been operating in Swindon for nearly 11 years (six at Wroughton) and for various reasons have decided to stop.
However, both the council and ourselves are under an obligation to reuse the building and not let it fall into decay.
Our planning application for B8 warehousing only brings it into line with every other hangar on the airfield, including two that are privately owned.
For the record we have not at any time had any intentions to store any unsuitable products. Aside from our own reservations public health, health and safety and the age and condition of the hangar would make this impossible.
Also any new permission would no doubt contain a condition to disallow such use. It must be remembered that most existing warehouses would not be limited in this way.
I cannot understand why anyone would promote this sort of scare mongering particularly as it has no foundation whatsoever.
We are more than happy to discuss any concerns the public may have.
