A NEW recycling project involving tin foil is set to help adults with learning disabilities.
The new aluminium recycling partnership is being launched between Chippenham's Middlefield Centre, Hills Waste and Alupro, the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation, to help reduce the amount of waste going into landfill.
The Middlefield Centre, a centre for adults with learning disabilities in Hungerdown Lane, will process the aluminium foil collected from the new kerbside collections.
The centre's new recycling group will sort and bale the foil, before it is sold for recycling, with all funds raised benefiting the group.
A spokesman for Middlefield said: "This partnership will provide work experience opportunities through an invaluable project that benefits the local community and will also provide a valuable source of income to invest in future development at the centre."
Tim Miller, Hills Waste's recycling manager, said: "We have had a good response to the new kerbside collection service.
"We expect to collect several tonnes of foil each year in the area for recycling."
