PARENTS and children brushed up their numeracy skills on a family learning course at Frogwell School this term.
Six families took part in the innovative scheme to help parents and children to learn and achieve together.
Parents went back to school and joined their children at the Chippenham primary school for one day a week.
They spent the mornings working with an adult tutor to polish their maths skills while the children worked with a teacher.
Then adults and children enjoyed a numeracy session together, and parents learned how to make sure their youngsters made the most of learning opportunities. One session involved a trip to a toy shop where they looked at toys designed to develop numeracy skills and bought some age appropriate games for the children.
