ADI VIVEASH admits to being frustrated at his lack of first team chances but has no desire to earn a recall on the back of a dream-shattering slump.

He hopes his colleagues will keep the season 'alive' long enough for him to return and help the club to a storming finish.

The experienced defender has not played since being axed from the side following October's 3-0 defeat at Chesterfield.

A knee injury then hampered his hopes of a swift return and he has been unable to force his way back into the picture since.

And Andy King's decision to switch to a flat back four on Saturday is unlikely to herald a return for the 34-year-old.

He said: "It's obviously been a frustrating and disappointing time for me recently.

"I want to be playing first team football but you've just got to roll your sleeves up, work hard and be ready for your chance when the call comes."

Viveash clearly hopes that call will come sooner rather than later but when it does, he wants to aid a promotion push, rather than be part of a team which has flattered to deceive.

He said: "As a team we had an encouraging start but it's fair to say we're having a sticky patch.

"The situation is retrievable but we need to turn things around quickly.

"We have already lost seven games and we don't want that pattern to continue in the second half of the season.

"I think the next four games, from Brentford to Bournemouth, form a vital period for us.

"The aim has to be to try and go unbeaten over Christmas and grind out results if necessary.

"Of course I want to play and I want to be involved when the club is still in a position to challenge."

Viveash may be unhappy that he is not involved but that does not mean he is about to throw his toys out of the pram.

He said: "If I can help the young lads in the team in any way in the meantime then I will.

"When I started out at Swindon there were some great professionals who were happy to offer advice and I was grateful for that.

"I suppose that brings up the issue of age again though.

"When things are going well in football, they talk about your experience but when things aren't, they resort to the 'age' argument.

"I view it that you need a blend in a successful side."
