SHREWTON UNITED bolstered their league position with a 5-2 home win over Minehead at the weekend.
The Shrews now sit comfortably in fifth place in division one of the Screwfix Direct.
It was a safe victory in the end, but Minehead threatened to level the match early in the second half.
After 45 minutes, United had worked a snug 3-0 lead. Jesse Walters made a great through ball to Michael Brownless, who scored the first.
Five minutes later, Dean Foot's shot from a penalty peeled off the bar and set Minehead on the break at the other end.
Foot immediately broke back and scored, and Shaun Collins put away a third.
In the second half Shrewton sat back, allowing Minehead two goals from headed corners.
Shrewton managed a flourish in the closing minutes, Walters scoring and Collins getting his second.
United face Chard Town at home this Saturday. Kick off 2pm.
