RINGWOOD safely negotiated a passage to the quarter-finals of the Trophyman Cup with a convincing victory over Hampshire League Division One side Fleet Spurs.
Darren Broad opened the scoring just before the break when he finished Jon Spear's cross for his first goal of the season. Carl Fleet notched twice, in the 52nd and 57th minutes, to put the game beyond doubt. The first was a header from a Steve Geary corner and the second was from a Geary through ball.
The visitors netted a consolation.
Town are still in the hunt for the Floodlit Cup after their quarter-final second leg at Fawley was postponed due to fog last Wednesday.
They are 3-2 up from the first leg.
Manager Bob Lane said: "Traditionally we are an awful cup side so it's nice to put a few results together. To reach a final would be a great achievement."
Ringwood go to high-flying Andover New Street, who beat them 2-0 last month, on Saturday.
Lane commented: "Our first half display against them was probably our best 45 minutes of the season, although we were poor in the second half. But we tend to do better at their place funnily enough."
The reserves lost 4-1 at Overton reserves in the Trophyman Combination Cup, and they take on Hamble Club at Long Lane on Saturday.
Lane said: "I think they copped it because Overton's first team game was postponed, but they will be looking forward to maintaining their league form."
