Stamford became the first team to avoid league defeat against Salisbury since Burnham in October, when they battled to a
1-1 draw at Old Sarum on
Tuesday night.
Danny Steadman capitalised on defensive uncertainty to prod the visitors in front on 59 minutes before Craig Davis supplied a piercing pass for Adam Wallace to score his fourth goal in three games seven minutes later.
The result means that Whites are unbeaten in nine league and cup games since the FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday in November, and they have soared to fourth spot. With leaders Tonbridge losing their last two fixtures, the title is not a foregone conclusion.
Banbury are the next visitors to Salisbury on Saturday.
Michael Cooper has a muscle injury at the back of his knee which is better than the ligament problem that was feared. Matt Holmes injured his heel in a reserve game and both players are around two weeks off recovery. City are still in the hunt for centre-halves Aaron Cook of Bashley and Rob Marshall from Eastleigh, with Holmes describing the deals as 'still in the melting pot'.
He added: "Banbury have been on a run similar to ours. We beat them 1-0 away but they have changed a lot since then so it will be a different game."
