SCREWFIX DIVISION ONE: CALNE Town boss Kelvin Highmore is worried he is going to be mistaken for a Bristol Manor Farm supporter after sitting through their last four matches.

Highmore's side were without a game on Saturday so he took the chance to swot up on this Saturday's opponents Larkhall Athletic as they took on the Bristol side.

Then on Tuesday he watched Corsham Town against Manor Farm in a bid to glean some last-minute information before his side's Boxing Day derby clash with their near neighbours.

These two scouting missions followed his recent trip to see the Bristol side play before they took on and beat Calne two weekend's ago.

With his homework now done Highmore is looking forward Saturday's clash with Larkhall and thinks his side can take the points.

"Larkhall beat Bristol Manor Farm 3-2 with the last kick of the game," he said. "They were 2-0 and got pegged back before they won it.

"They have got a few different players to when played in the Les Phillips Cup.

"They have a tie up with Bath University but we don't really know what we are going into because those lads could get called away.

"We played them before and won 2-0 comfortably but I was impressed with them on Saturday and it will depend on how we apply ourselves."

Calne's home match with Cadbury Heath last Saturday was called off because of a waterlogged pitch. Highmore said it was both good and bad for his injured contingent.

"We have been hit by illness recently and while lads like Darren Smart and Ben Highmore are over the worst they haven't played for three or four weeks," he added.

"Darren missed training last week but Ben came through it well. We will know more after training this week.

"Larkhall will have a slight edge because they haven't missed any games. But going on league positions we will going into it as underdogs and will have nothing to lose.

"Hopefully we can get something out of it."

While Highmore is concentrating on this weekend he does admit he has one eye on the derby with the forthcoming Corsham. "As always you look forward to these games but are glad when they are over," he said.

"It is difficult to keep people's feet on the ground but we have got to concentrate on one game at a time. Corsham are the form team with six wins from seven games. They've hit form and we are in a dip.

"But there is one game before that which I am more concerned with at the moment."

With the season almost at the halfway stage Highmore is reasonably happy with his side's progress but is calling for a big push in the New Year.

"We have got to do what Corsham have done," he added. "They are seven games unbeaten and they have done that playing the teams around them and below them.

"We have just come off Bitton, Hallen and Bristol Manor Farm. We only got one point but it could have been more with any luck.

"We are disappointed with where we are at the moment but there is still long way to go. The next two games are massive but then we play Ilfracombe who are bottom and we should have a nice run in New Year playing teams below us.''
