Swiss cellist Orfeo Mandozzi made his British debut at Marden House in Calne last week.
Mr Mandozzi, who is based in Vienna, is performing in the UK as part of a world tour including concerts in Spain, Germany USA, Italy and Switzerland. He was accompanied at Marden House by Caroline Clipsham who performed in Calne four years ago.
Mr Mandozzi, who plays a cello made in 1675, opened the concert with a recital of Beethoven Sonata in A and went on to play two more sonatas.
Carole Browne, of the Marden House committee, said Mr Mandozzi played with great feeling and panache.
"Mandozzi's amazingly passionate performance was matched by Caroline Clipsham's skilful handling of the extremely demanding accompaniment," she said.
The next concert will be on January 18 at 3pm when the Bournemouth Symphonic Brass, made up of five members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, will perform a programme ranging from Bach to jazz.
Tickets are available at the box office in Bank House, Calne.
