PARENTS are furious that no-one is taking responsibility for the gritting of a path leading to Fynamore Primary School in Calne.
Justin Oliver, who sends his children Liam, Luke and Sophie to the school said one of the paths leading up to the school car park is becoming very dangerous in the icy weather.
"The school is only allowed to grit inside the grounds and it can't grit the external path.
"No-one is taking responsibility for gritting it and sooner or later someone is going to get hurt. Luckily no-one has broken a leg yet but it could happen," said Mr Oliver.
Wiltshire County Council said it was not its responsibility and Persimmon Homes, the developer of the estate, was responsible.
A council spokesman said: "The roads and paths have not been adopted yet so they are still the responsibility of the developer.
"They are responsible for maintenance and have a duty of care to make sure the roads are safe."
The council regularly grits main roads when very severe frost is forecast, and also provides grit bins for the public to use. It also provides schools with grit.
But a spokesman for Persimmon Homes said it did not grit roads and this should be the council's responsibility.
"Someone somewhere has a duty of care and they are not fulfilling it.
"Why do we always have to fight with Persimmon to get the answers we need?" said Mr Oliver.
