IN the true spirit of the season pupils at Ogbourne St George School thought of others when they had their Christmas lunch yesterday.
They took along gifts for children less fortunate than themselves and donated them to the Salvation Army and Gazette appeal. They will all be delivered to families before Christmas.
It is the only time of the yearwhen the 62 pupils at the popular school that serves the twin villages of Ogbourne St George and Ogbourne St Andrew, sit down together for a hot meal.
The school has discontinued hot lunches in favour of packed meals.
Yesterday, thanks to a team of parents led by Debbie Moxon, cooked and served a full Christmas lunch with turkey and all the traditional accompaniments.
Instead of receiving presents after their lunch the Ogbourne children handed in their special gifts for other young people .
Head teacher Judith Evans said: "The lunch was all provided and cooked by a team led by Debbie Moxon."
Today the children will have their end of term parties in preparation for breaking up tomorrow.
