TRAIN operator First Great Western says it's not too late to book places on Christmas period trains.
While some of the services between London and the South West, Thames Valley, Cotswolds and South Wales are booked, seats on other trains have yet to be filled.
But the company says places are in such continual demand that bookings should be made as soon as possible.
About 10,000 reservations have been made in the last week alone, and the firm says they are coming in at an average rate of one a minute.
Louise Blyth, First Great Western's head of marketing, said: "It is free to book a seat when you buy your ticket at any time of the year, and it's highly recommended when travelling at holiday times.
"Although some trains are full, there are still seats available on even the busiest routes.
People can book online at www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk.
There will be no services to and from Swindon on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
National Rail Inquiries can be contacted for full details of services over the holiday period on 08457 48 49 50.
