So we could see a council tax rise of 13.1 per cent in Swindon next year, to boost the ailing Social Services funds.
What on earth has the council done with last year's 15 per cent? I think we all know the answer to that question.
The headlines on page two of Tuesday's (December 9) Adver read: Council will consult the public on tax increase. Why? Because after the meeting, council leader Mike Bawden made it clear to the Adver that the result of the public consultation would not be binding.
So there we have it makes you think of someone called Blair. We will listen to you, but we will also do whatever we want.
Coun Bawden continues to blame the Government for Swindon's "desperate funding dilemma".
Come on, I think the Government is thinking the same as we council tax payers.
Why go on pouring water into a leaking bucket?
Without wanting to sound extremist, should this tax hike go ahead next year, I would urge everyone to return their council tax forms to the Council Treasury department, civic offices, because, if we do not stand firm and united on this issue, God help us all.
