I CANNOT speak too highly of the treatment my wife Jenny recently received from the NHS.

On November 13 my wife tripped and fell in Devizes, suffering what appeared to be bruising of both legs.

On November 17, we contacted Southbroom GP practice. Dr Williams telephoned us to arrange for X-ray at 3pm at Devizes Hospital and an emergency appointment with Dr Pullen at the practice, who diagnosed a probable hairline fracture of right medial tibia and arranged an appointment at Great Western Hospital, Swindon for 10.30am on November 19. A full leg plaster was fitted by Devizes Hospital.

On November 19 we arrived at 10.20am, and were seen by an orthopaedic consultant who confirmed the diagnosis and ordered the plaster of Paris to be removed and a lighter plaster applied, and arranged another appointment for 9.35am on December 4. We left at 11.20am. On December 4 we arrived at Great Western Hospital at 9.15am when the plaster was removed and the leg X-rayed. We saw an orthopaedic consultant, followed by physiotherapist who advised and arranged for further physiotherapy at Devizes Hospital.

My wife and I appreciate the kindness and efficiency of everyone at Southbroom Practice and the Devizes and Great Western Hospitals.

The hospital at Devizes is beautifully cared for, clean and bright and the Great Western Hospital equally so, with the benefit of a design that provides convenience for patients and good working conditions for staff.

We hope that the services of Devizes Hospital will not suffer any further depletion and applaud the building of the Great Western.
