THE reflective roundels on the southbound island pedestrian refuges opposite the Devizes Corn Exchange have been removed, possibly by vandals.
In these dark evenings they present an accident waiting to happen. For the last three weeks at least, the roundels have not been visible. While the very attractive surrounding street lights are working they emit rather less useful light than a Toc H lamp.
I have thought about contacting a responsible person and suddenly
realised: would these be the responsibility of the Highways Agency, Wiltshire, Kennet, Devizes Councils or the police? I give up.
All I know is that while travelling in a southbound direction the refuges are a dangerous hazard not assisted by street lighting. How much longer should the lives of the people of this town be needlessly endangered?
