PROLIFIC Bradford Town striker Tom Pang has his sights set on Western League football but he is hoping he won't have to move clubs to achieve his aim.

Pang, 19, has scored 26 goals in just 16 games for Bradford this season and his exploits have helped to lift his side to second place in the Wiltshire League Premier Division.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Trowbridge-born striker's future but at the moment Pang is keeping his sights firmly on shooting Bradford into the Screwfix League.

He said: "I have set myself a target of scoring over 40 goals this season which I think is realistic.

"I want to get Bradford promoted to repay the faith they have shown in me.

"I know it will be hard for us to go up but, because of the ground requirements, there is the possibility that even third place would see us win promotion."

Pang's scoring record has not gone unnoticed this season and he has already attracted a lot of interest from Screwfix League clubs, including Division One side Calne Town and Premier Division Melksham Town.

But he insists that his immediate future is at Bradford Town and he will not be leaving until the end of the season at least.

"I am definitely going to stay loyal to Bradford," he said. "They have been brilliant to me and I owe them.

"When I was playing Sunday League football for Holt last season, Bradford's former manager, Les Stevens, asked me if I wanted to play for them.

"My mother had just died and so it wasn't a good time for me but Bradford were great about it and left me alone until I was ready to move.

"They have given me the opportunity to play at this level and I now want to repay them."

He continued: "I do want to play at a higher level so I will wait and see what happens at the end of the season.

"My aim is to get Bradford promoted and hopefully if they are in the Screwfix League next season then there will be no need for me to move anywhere."

Pang has had a taste of Screwfix League football this season as he helped Melksham Town out in their 3-1 defeat at Keynsham last Wednesday and he believes the standard was not much of a step up.

He said: "I enjoyed playing for Melksham the other day but to be honest I didn't feel the step up was too difficult.

"The only difference was the play was more patient and so I found it a bit boring as I am used to faster, more attacking football."

Pang started his career at Bradford under 11s and went through the Bradford youth ranks until the age of 15. He then moved to Trowbridge before enjoying a spell at Chippenham Youth.

For the previous two years Pang had been playing only Sunday League football for Holt before joining Bradford Town in the summer.

He said: "I love it at Bradford. It is local and much better than Trowbridge Town."
