ADAM Smith scored five goals for Bradford Town on Saturday as they climbed to second place in the Wiltshire League Premier Division table with a 10-0 home demolition of Pewsey Vale Reserves.
The right side midfielder was a constant threat to the visitors' defence and manager Mark Hodkinson believes the goals were just reward for his efforts.
He said: "Adam is a quality player. He ran at their defence all day and they could not cope with him.
"He is a pleasure to watch as he has no fear about running at players. We have got a lot pace in the side now and it is great to watch us play."
With the game sewn up early in the second half, Hodkinson substituted prolific scorer Tom Pang to give 16-year-old Mark Robinson his chance.
Robinson grasped his opportunity and scored Bradford's last goal of the game. The other goal scorers were Steve Wickens (2), Pang and Pete Martin.
"It was a great chance to give Robinson the experience of first team football," said Hodkinson.
"Pangy was not too happy at being taken off because I think he sensed a chance to get among the goals.
"I have been waiting for a chance to rest Tom because he has played a lot of football and this was a great chance to do it."
Bradford are now only four points behind league leaders Trowbridge Town but Hodkinson is urging his players not to get carried away.
He said: "We have played a lot more games than our rivals and I still feel that we have left ourselves too much to do.
"We lost some stupid points earlier in the season but all we can do is keep winning and then we will see what happens.
"By the end of the season teams like Trowbridge will have to squeeze in a lot of games and who knows they may slip up under the pressure.
"If we got the chance to go up to the Screwfix League then we would jump at it but to be honest I really hope that Trowbridge can sort a ground out.
"I class myself as a Trowbridge lad and if they finish top of the league, which they look like doing, then it would be a travesty if they couldn't go up."
Bradford travel to Corsham Town reserves tomorrow
