David Stevens was the last baby to be transferred from the Special Care Baby Unit at the former Princess Margaret Hospital to the new Great Western unit.
In spite of spending three months in the unit after he was born 13 weeks early, weighing 1lb 12oz, he is now a healthy little boy who has just celebrated his first birthday.
He returned to the SCBU last week with parents Dave and Donna to give the ward a cheque for £450.
Donna, 28, of Taw Hill, said: "We wanted to give this money to say thank you. David has a lot of toys so we thought the money would be better spent at the unit."
