Birthday greetings with a royal seal of approval have given one Trowbridge lady a cause to celebrate her 50th.
Carol Jacobsen, of Dursley Road, was born premature, weighing just 3lb, and was inspired to write to the Queen sending best wishes after Edward and Sophie's first child Louise was born a month early.
Days later a letter dropped onto her doormat carrying the royal seal thanking Mrs Jacobsen for
her concern and wishing her a happy 50th birthday.
She said: "Sophie's baby girl was born early so I sent Her Majesty a letter hoping everything was OK.
"I told her that I was born early too but grew up healthy and was about to celebrate my 50th birthday.
"I never expected to get a reply, I just thought she would like to get a nice letter at a difficult time.
"The Queen said thank you for my concern and wished me a happy birthday and told me little Louise was doing wonderfully well."
