GENEROUS patients have saved a Christmas raffle at a Trowbridge doctors' surgery after thieves ran off with the original prize.

A Christmas hamper was stolen from the Bradley Road Surgery last week but after seeing a report in the Wiltshire Times kind-hearted patients donated extra gifts.

On Monday members of Patients' Voice had collected enough to raffle two Christmas hampers and have raised nearly £400.

Diana Matthews, treasurer of Patients Voice, said: "It was a bit overwhelming that these patients really rallied round donating food, drink and money."

The cash will be spent on top-of-the-range ear and eye cameras.
